DIRECTOR

Serani Hunyi began her career in high-intensity film production in the early 1990s, working on international feature films alongside Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy) and Eric Roberts. She later transitioned into directing music videos for major labels including EMI and Sony BMG, developing a strong visual and performance-led approach to storytelling.

In 2011, she conceptualised and directed a Chevrolet commercial that received recognition during a Super Bowl competition in the US. The following year, she wrote and directed ICEVILLE, a Bangkok-based drama that established her instinct for psychologically grounded, performance-driven narratives.

Relocating to Prague, she moved into an executive producer role at Production Inc, co-producers of Hostel by Quentin Tarantino, gaining further experience at the structural and operational level of film production.

After a prolonged break from the industry and during her recovery from severe PTSD, her underwater micro-short RISING TO THE SURFACE screened at the Great Lakes Mental Health Festival (Australia, 2025), marking a return to authored work and a continued exploration of trauma, endurance, and psychological transformation.

More recently, Serani has emerged as an award-winning photographer, with multiple international honours for her cinematic portraiture and narrative series.

With CALIBRATION, based on her original story and written by L. B. Schulman, she steps fully into a director-led body of work — deepening her exploration of identity, autonomy, and the psychological cost of systemic control.
