Before taking a ten-year break from the film industry, Serani spent fourteen years running her own private online film school, where she taught directing, producing, and editing to students around the world. During that time, six of her students' short films went on to receive international awards.
"Nobody learns filmmaking from the sidelines," says Serani.
"I'm passionate about encouraging more women to pursue careers in filmmaking. There is no shortage of talented young women entering this industry. What they often need are opportunities, encouragement, and role models who show them that these careers are not only possible, but that they belong there."
Prague Film School has built an outstanding reputation for developing filmmakers through practical production, and Serani hopes the collaboration will inspire the next generation of female filmmakers to step confidently into the industry and tell their own stories.
For Prague Film School co-founder Tariq Hager, the collaboration reflects that same commitment.
"Too often, we see our super-talented female students, particularly in cinematography, not being elevated to the positions they deserve in the industry. The all-women crew of CALIBRATION will serve as a great model for these students, and hopefully inspire them to push hard to find a professional footing after graduation, or to do something similar in the future."
Prague Film School attracts students from across the world and has earned an international reputation for producing graduates whose work has gone on to screen and receive recognition at many of cinema's most prestigious festivals and awards, including Cannes, Venice, Berlinale, Sundance, Toronto, Locarno, the Academy Awards and the Emmy Awards.
The partnership between CALIBRATION and Prague Film School reflects a shared belief that the future of filmmaking depends not only on developing talent, but on ensuring that talented women have every opportunity to lead it.
Principal photography for CALIBRATION begins in Prague in November 2026.

Prague Film School Joins CALIBRATION as Official Educational Partner
PRAGUE, Czech Republic
Award-winning independent arthouse psychological feature film CALIBRATION is pleased to announce that Prague Film School has joined the production as an Official Educational Partner ahead of principal photography in Prague this November.
Founded by American filmmaking entrepreneur Tariq Hager together with Lithuanian filmmaker Tomas Krasauskas, Prague Film School has established itself as one of Europe's leading independent film schools through a philosophy centred on practical filmmaking rather than theory alone. While many traditional film academies place greater emphasis on classroom instruction, Prague Film School immerses students in production from the outset, with each student participating in as many as thirty productions annually.
The school's international outlook is reflected not only in its English-language programmes and faculty drawn from around the world, but also in its remarkable home in the heart of Prague. Located just behind the National Theatre, Prague Film School occupies two historic buildings, one of which dates back to the 11th century and is protected by UNESCO. The building was once home to Czech composer Josef Bohuslav Foerster, whose memorial bust still overlooks the entrance. Over the years, the school has welcomed distinguished guest lecturers from across the international film industry, including Tom Cruise, who visited students during the filming of Mission: Impossible IV in 2011.
As part of the collaboration, selected female filmmaking students from Prague Film School will have the opportunity to observe elements of the production, gaining first-hand insight into the practical realities of an independent arthouse feature film while working alongside CALIBRATION's all-women crew.
For writer-director Serani Hunyi, the collaboration represents a natural continuation of a passion that extends beyond filmmaking itself.
